Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) today strongly condemned the shifting of its seven re-arrested leaders and activists back to Srinagar Central Jail.

“The re-arrest of seven leaders including zonal general secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Azeem Zargar, Basharat Ahmad Butt, Nazir Ahmad Pulwama, Meraj-ud-Din of Soitaing and Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah and sending them to Srinagar Central Jail again. Seven JKLF leaders, who were re-arrested by police yesterday when they were stepping outside Central Jail, were missing till late evening as police using old police tactics first refused their arrest and afterwards shifted them back to Central Jail from Rainawari police station,” the front spokesman, in a statement today, said, condemning the police “highhandedness”.

“Meanwhile, the JKLF has paid rich tributes to slain militant Nasrullah Mir of Hajin, Bandipora. A JKLF delegation visited Hajin and participated in the funeral prayers of the slain youth.  The members paid rich tributes to him and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family,” the spokesman said.
