Pulwama, Sep 17: The Zamin Foundation, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department and Government Degree College (GDC) Tral, on Wednesday organised an awareness session on forest conservation, highlighting the need to preserve the region’s rich ecological heritage.

As per the statement issued, the session was inaugurated by Dr Rafiq Ahmed Wani, Head of the Department of Physics at GDC Tral, who welcomed guest speakers, faculty, and students. He underlined the college’s commitment to environmental education and to nurturing a generation of ecologically responsible citizens.

Delivering the keynote address, Arook Ahmed Shah, Range Officer, Tral Forest Range, gave an insightful presentation on pressing challenges facing forest conservation. He stressed the Forest Department’s role in protection and management and called for greater community participation to safeguard this vital natural resource.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mohammad Rafiq Wani, Head of the Department of Botany, who expressed gratitude to all partners—Zamin Foundation, J&K Forest Department, and the college administration—for their collaborative efforts. He also appreciated the students for their active and attentive participation.
