Zakura residents decry dilapidated roads
Srinagar, Oct 10: Residents of Bismillah Colony and Choudhary Bagh Colony of Zakura area on the city outskirts have expressed resentment against the failure of authorities to undertake repairs and macadamisation of dilapidated roads in these twin localities.
A delegation of residents around a kilometre stretch from Bismillah Colony to Chowdhary Bagh Colony is dilapidated and dotted with big potholes. “Due to dilapidated roads, we face problems to even walk. Roads in our colonies haven’t been macadamised for over a decade. In the last several years, many residents suffered injuries after skidding and falling down uneven roads. Are we not part of Srinagar city,” they rued.
The residents said their vehicles have suffered damage after plying on dilapidated roads. “We have been moving from pillar to post to seek road repairs but to no avail. We have learned that despite the approval, concerned authorities aren’t starting macadamisation work. We make a fervent appeal to Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter and expedite road repairs at the earliest,” they added.
