YSS conducts district-level yoga trials in Poonch

Poonch, Aug 1: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Poonch, on Friday successfully organised District-Level Trials-cum-Selection in the discipline of Yoga for All Age Group (AAG) Boys and Girls at the Indoor Hall Sports Stadium, Poonch, as part of the Activity Calendar 2025–26.

As per a statement issued, the event was conducted under the directions of the Director General, Youth Services and Sports J&K UT, Smt. Anuradha Gupta (JKAS), and the guidance of the Worthy Joint Director YSS, Smt. Vinakshi Koul (JKAS).

The event was held under the overall supervision of DYSSO Poonch, Mohd Qasim, with the objective of identifying and selecting talented boys and girls across various age groups who will go on to represent Poonch at district, divisional, state, and national levels.

Vijay Kumar, Activity Incharge, managed the event with exemplary coordination, ensuring smooth execution and enthusiastic participation. The trials witnessed spirited involvement from aspiring athletes, all eager to showcase their skills.

The event was honoured by the presence of Vikas Sharma as the chief guest. He interacted warmly with the participants, applauded their dedication, and encouraged them to strive for excellence in sports.

A highly qualified technical panel ensured fair and transparent trials. The panel was chaired by Vikas Sharma (Pet) and included Manzoor Ahmed Rek, Isara Ahmed Rek, Aijaz Ahmed Rek, Pervaiz Ahmed Rek, Muzaffar Iqbal Rek, Altaf Hussain Rek, Imtiaz Ahmed, Pinkey Nyc, and Puneet Kour Nyc.

The department extended heartfelt thanks to all officials, staff, and participants for their valuable contributions, emphasising that such initiatives continue to strengthen grassroots-level sports and foster young talent throughout the region.
