Youth Parliament held at BGSBU under Yuwa Connect programme
Rajouri, Aug 5: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, hosted a Youth Parliament session under the Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassador–Yuwa Connect programme, focusing on the theme “Emergency Period in India”.
The event saw active participation from students who engaged in a lively parliamentary simulation, debating the 1975–77 Emergency period. Two teams, each with four members and a designated speaker, presented arguments and counter-arguments in a structured format.
Registrar Abhishek Sharma, the Chief Guest, underlined the importance of Youth Parliament initiatives in promoting democratic values and constitutional awareness among students. He highlighted the relevance of understanding India’s constitutional history to strengthen its democratic future.
Participants Mohd Zubair, Tabish Hussan, and Miss Mohsina made compelling contributions, while Yawar Ameen Bhat moderated the session as the Speaker with clarity and confidence.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, emphasising the role of youth in democratic engagement. The session was moderated by Vishal Pahadi, ensuring a disciplined and engaging environment.
Senior faculty members, including Majid Bashir Malik, Vishal Puri (who also served as a judge), Dr. Tasleem Arif, and Dr. Pervez Alam, were present. Malik Mubasher Hassan delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the organisers, participants, and faculty.
