Youth group carries out cleanliness drive in Sopore area

Sopore, July 7:To promote a go-green and clean environment, a group of local volunteers from a village in Sopore have launched a cleanliness drive in their area in order to keep the environment neat and clean.

On Sunday, local volunteers from Zaloora village in Sopore conducted a daylong cleanliness drive in order to create awareness among the residents and visitors of the village to keep the surrounding neat and clean in order to preserve environmental glory.

The cleanliness drive was jointly carried out by around 30 youth of the area including the employees, businessmen and students.

This kind of cleanliness drive of the area inspired the youth of the other villages to hold their own drives.

“Such drives are a wonderful opportunity for people’s participation and they are major avenues to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in our environment,” said Irshad Ahmad, one of the participants.

He said that this is the opportunity to raise awareness among the residents and visitors to keep "our surroundings clean and this drive will help to raise a civic sense among the masses.”

Another volunteer said every citizen has a responsibility to keep their surroundings clean, transparent and pollution free and this initiative of cleanliness drive was conducted to create awareness among the masses.
