Youth dies after coming under Chinar tree branch in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Dec 17: A youth died during the pruning of a Chinar tree in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday .

A local resident said that the youth identified as Umaan Akbar Ganai of Safapora received serious injuries after a branch of a Chinar tree being cut down by some labourers fell on him near Patti Rampora area here.

“He was immediately shifted to district hospital Ganderbal, where he was declared dead on arrival,” an official said . After the legal formalities the body was handed over to the family for last rites. Police have taken cognisance of the incident.

After the tragic incident the district administration Ganderbal has ordered an inquiry into the incident to determine the circumstances and facts of death.

“In order to ascertain the facts and other circumstantial conditions leading to the death of a youth Umaan Akbar Ganie S/o Mohd Akbar Ganie R/o Safapora during pruning of Chinar tree at village Tulmula tehsil Tulamulla on 17.12.2024, Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Revenue. (ACR) is hereby appointed as Enquiry Officer, who shall submit a detailed enquiry report to this office within a week’s time positively,” reads an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate Ganderbal.
