Youth Congress activists protest in Jammu
Jammu, July 20: Youth Congress Saturday held a protest, as a part of party’s agitational programme, against rise in terror attacks in Jammu and changes in J&K Business Rules.
Pradesh Youth Congress activists, led by Maan Singh Rathore, in-charge JKPYC and Aakash Bharat, president JKPYC initiated their protest amid slogans at Maharaja Hari Singh Park. However, when they tried to take out protest march, they were stopped by police.
Police briefly detained the protesting activists and later released them.
While addressing the media, Rathore criticized the government for its failure to contain terrot attacks. He said, “In last 40 days, 11 to 12 terror attacks were carried out in J&K in which more than a dozen soldiers were killed. The worsening situation in Jammu region is very concerning. This BJP led administration has failed on every front. We need to launch a full scale war against terrorism to protect the lives of the soldiers of army, security forces, police personnel and civilians.”
He also added that full-fledged statehood status should be given to J&K without any delay, before assembly elections.
Aakash Bharat lambasted the central government against the amendments in J&K Business Rules, according more powers to the Lieutenant Governor in transfers and postings of the Administrative Secretaries and cadre posts of All India Services officers; proposals related to public order, All India Service and ACB.
