Srinagar, May 29: A seminar on role of elderly people in society was organised today at Ahata Waqar, a center for care and recreation for elders at Chanapora.

On the occasion, speakers from different walks of life stressed on the importance of care for the elderly. In his address, chairperson of Human Effort for Love and Peace (HELP) Foundation, Nighat Shafi Pandit, who was the chief guest of the function, underscored the need for welfare measures for elderly.  Elders are the ocean of experience, knowledge, and wisdom which the younger generations must assimilate to enrich their souls,” Nighat said.

During the function, a book “Correct thinking” authored by H. M Yasin , former Joint Director Sericulture, was released. The book release function was presided over by convenor of Kashmiri Advisory Committee of the Sahitya Akademi  Prof.Shaad Ramzan. President Adbi Markaz Kamraz , Mohd Amin Bhat, former director of Doordarshan Srinagar Shabir Mujahid, were present.

“Elders play a pivotal role in the preservation of culture,” Ramzan said. Chairman Ahata Waqar Abdul Gani Parray presented a welcome address.
