Kupwara, Oct 31: Young Rising Stars clinched the Kupwara District Tennis Ball Cricket Championship title after edging out United Sports Kupwara in a thrilling final at Galizoo Stadium on Friday, capping two days of intense cricketing action and youthful enthusiasm.

As per a statement issued, the grand finale was nothing short of a nail-biter as Team Young Rising Stars locked horns with United Sports Kupwara in a clash that kept the audience on the edge of their seats till the last over.

The closing ceremony added even more sparkle to the evening. The Chief Guest, Aadil Manzoor, Captain of Team India Ice Stock Sport, congratulated the winners and lauded the spirit of Kupwara’s youth. In his inspiring address, he said, “Kupwara is not just known for its beauty but for its boundless sporting talent.

Our youth are capable of conquering every arena, from cricket to international ice stock and martial arts—all they need is opportunity and encouragement.”

The event was further graced by Neelofar, Secretary General of the District Kupwara Tennis Ball Cricket Association, as Guest of Honour, who expressed pride in the successful conduct of the tournament. She appreciated the enthusiastic participation of teams and emphasised that Kupwara’s sporting culture is rising stronger than ever.

Adding a unique sporting flavour to the event, Zakir Hussain and Sozan Nazir, both National Medallists in Pencak Silat, were also present as Guests of Honour. Their presence highlighted the district’s growing influence across multiple sports disciplines. They encouraged young athletes to dream big and stay disciplined, remarking that “Kupwara’s youth have the potential to shine not just in J&K but across the nation.”
