Young artists unleash creativity with brushstrokes
Srinagar, Aug 4: In an inspiring showcase of youthful creativity, a two-day art exhibition titled "Flair Unleashed" concluded on Monday at the City Mall in Lal Chowk.
The exhibition, held under the banner of the Fervent Flair Collective, was a debut initiative led entirely by teenage artists. The rare endeavour captured the attention of art lovers and the broader community alike.
The driving force behind the exhibition was 10th-grade student Bazlah, founder of Fervent Flair Collective, a group of young artists determined to build a supportive platform for budding talent in the Valley.
“My aim was to create a creative space where young people could express themselves freely with no boundaries. I believe art has the power to inspire, and I want the present generation to feel drawn toward it,” Bazlah told Greater Kashmir.
The exhibition featured the works of eight teen artists, each bringing a unique perspective to the canvas. The artists said that they showcased portraits, village life, serenity of nature to abstract expressions of thought and feeling. They said the mediums were equally diverse, including oil paints, graphite sketches, fabric paint, and mixed media compositions.
Organisers said that Flair Unleashed was designed without a rigid theme, which as per them was a deliberate decision by the organisers to allow each artist the freedom to explore their imagination and personal style.
“It was an exceptional experience. Not only did we get to showcase our work, but we also got to hear what others think and feel about art,” said Elaf Rasool, one of the participating artists.
Another artist, Muhammad Musa, who was exhibiting his work for the first time, said, “I was not sure what was in store for us, but the response from the public was so encouraging. I never expected so many people to show genuine interest in our work.”
The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with students, educators, artists, politicians, and art enthusiasts stopping by to view the exhibits. Many visitors expressed admiration for the young artists’ initiative and were inspired by the creativity and discipline on display.
“It is heartening to see such passion in the younger generation. This exhibition reignited our own interest in art, and we will definitely support and attend such events in the future,” said a group of visitors.
The organisers said that experienced artists who visited the show also offered valuable feedback and encouragement.
“This is a silver lining. It is a way for our youth to channel their energy into something meaningful, rather than indulging in anti-social activities,” said a visitor.
With its successful debut, the organisers now hope to turn Fervent Flair Collective into a recurring platform to nurture young talent.
