Lucknow, Feb 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on the first day of his Japan visit, held extensive discussions in Tokyo with Kazuki Shimizu, Managing Officer and Chief Operating Officer (Infrastructure Projects Business Unit) of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., inviting the Japanese conglomerate to explore large-scale investment opportunities in the state.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister outlined Uttar Pradesh’s vision to emerge as a hub of the future economy and identified four priority sectors for collaboration. These include renewable energy, spanning solar, bio-energy, green hydrogen and energy storage as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), covering IT parks, electronics manufacturing, digital services and the startup ecosystem.

Discussions also focused on semiconductor manufacturing and expansion of the electronics value chain, along with investment in hyper-scale data centres, cloud infrastructure and digital connectivity hubs.

Inviting Mitsui for a long-term partnership, Adityanath said, “Uttar Pradesh is fully committed to strengthening India-Japan economic cooperation at the grassroots level.”

He emphasised that as India’s largest consumer market, Uttar Pradesh offers strong connectivity through expressways and the Dedicated Freight Corridor, along with rapidly developing industrial clusters. Highlighting the state’s industry-friendly policies, single-window clearance system and time-bound approvals, the Chief Minister assured investors of a safe, transparent and result-oriented business environment.
