Yogi Govt nips crime in the bud, acts against 1 lakh individuals

Lucknow, Apr 10: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime has delivered a major blow to criminals over the past eight years. During this period, over one lakh criminals have been sent to jail, and 227 were neutralized in police encounters, underlining the government’s firm stance on law and order.

Taking this mission further, the Yogi government launched a special drive under Mission Shakti Phase-5, titled “Das Ke Dum”, which includes ten targeted operations such as Operation Garuda, Eagle, Majnu, Raksha, Bachpan, Khoj, Shield, Destroy, Nasha Mukti, and Trinetra.

Through these operations, the Uttar Pradesh Police have worked to ensure the safety and dignity of women, children, youth, and vulnerable sections of society. Among them, “Operation Trinetra” has emerged as a powerful weapon against heinous crimes—uncovering major criminal networks and putting offenders behind bars.

DGP Prashant Kumar said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Police launched ten special operations across the state as part of Mission Shakti Phase-5.

These efforts have proven to be a nightmare for criminals. The Yogi government’s “Das Ke Dum” campaign aims to make the state crime-free—and it is already showing strong results on the ground. Legal action has been taken against over 1 lakh people through these operations.

Speaking about Operation Trinetra, the DGP stated that police identified sensitive locations throughout the state and installed over 11 lakh CCTV cameras. These cameras were connected to police stations and control rooms to ensure quick action during emergencies.

The police were able to successfully crack down on 5,718 major crimes, including robbery and dacoity across Uttar Pradesh.

He further shared that Operation Garuda was launched to control cybercrimes related to women and girls. Under this campaign, 2,597 FIRs were investigated, out of which 2,407 were resolved.

In addition, out of 1,179 previously registered cases, 449 were resolved, 498 accused were arrested, and chargesheets were filed against 405 individuals.

Similarly, Operation Majnu was conducted against miscreants harassing women and girls around schools and colleges. In this campaign, 7,554 locations were identified, and action was taken against 58,624 individuals.

Under Operation Eagle, the police tracked 7,963 criminals who had previously committed crimes against women and were released from jail. Of these, 5,166 were identified, 2,683 were arrested or presented before the court, and charge sheets were filed against 4,294 of them.

Operation Raksha focused on human trafficking cases hidden in spa centers and massage parlors.

Through this drive, 56 women/girls were rescued, and 49 were rehabilitated. In the state, operations like Bachpan and Khoj were launched to safeguard children’s rights, including prevention of child labor and child begging. Under Operation Bachpan, 2,860 children were rescued, and action was taken in 1,207 cases. Similarly, under Operation Khoj, 3,327 missing children were rehabilitated from railway stations, bus stands, and shelter homes.

Furthermore, under Operation Shield, 29,773 acid shops were inspected, and action was taken against 725 of them. Operation Destroy dealt with obscene content, where 748 cases related to obscene literature and CDs were registered.

Under Operation Nasha Mukti, 4,750 drug-related hotspots were identified, 2,752 FIRs were registered, and action was taken against 33,391 individuals.
