Yatris halt at Sumbal transit camp

Bandipora, June 28: The first batch of Amarnath Yatris was welcomed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora along with other senior officials in the administration to the Sumbal transit camp at Shadipora in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday.

From the transit camp, the group of yatris will take the Baltal route to pay obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine.

Welcoming a group of yatris, DC Bandipora Shakeel-ul-Rehman along with SSP Bandipora and other officers garlanded them and provided bouquets.

Talking to media persons, Rehman said that adequate arrangements were in place to make the stay of the Amarnath Yatris safe and comfortable.

“It is a transit camp and we have made all the arrangements,” he said.

He said that the camp could accommodate 350 yatris previously but the capacity had now been augmented to around 950 persons.
