Wushu Sports Club clinches victory in Kupwara Women's Volleyball Championship
Kupwara, Nov 1: In a riveting display of skill and determination, Wushu Sports Club emerged victorious in the final of Kupwara Women's Volleyball Championship Season II, defeating Army Goodwill School Chandigam (AGS) in a nail-biting five-set encounter at Hirri playground.
The championship, organised by the Army, featured ten teams from schools and sports academies across Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla districts. The tournament, which commenced on October 21, showcased the exceptional volleyball talent of young women in the region.
The final match was a testament to the high-caliber competition, with Wushu Sports Club clinching a narrow 3-2 victory. Sadaf, a young and talented player from the winning team, was instrumental in the triumph, scoring a remarkable 22 points in the final match and earning the Woman of the Match title.
Aiman Bashir from AGS Chandigam was recognised as the Woman of the Championship, having scored an impressive 75 points across five matches.
The event drew significant enthusiasm from spectators who traveled from various areas to support their favorite teams. The Commanding Officer of Kupwara Terriers, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, applauded the players' efforts and pledged continued support for women's sports in the region.
Participants expressed gratitude to the Army for providing a platform to showcase their talents. "This is the best opportunity to display our skills and connect with players from different districts," said one of the players, highlighting the championship's importance in fostering sporting talent and inter-district camaraderie.
The prize distribution ceremony, led by the Commanding Officer, celebrated the achievements of the participating teams and individual performers.
