Srinagar, Nov 11: World Radiology Day was observed on November 9 at Tagore Hall, Srinagar,by the Department of Radiology Government Medical College, Srinagar, in collaboration with the Society of Indian Radiographers.

The event was attended by Administrative Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, who served as the chief guest.

The gathering was further distinguished by the attendance of several notable figures, including the Principal of GMC Srinagar, Prof (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Shah; Director of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Jehangir Bakshi; Director of School Education, Tasdooq Hussain Mir; former Principal of GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Parveez Shah; former Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Ashraf; and Administrator of GMC Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak. The event was also attended by the radiographers and faculty of radiodiagnosis from SKIMS medical college Srinagar.

Organising chairman of the event, Prof (Dr) Majid Jahangir, Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis at GMC Srinagar, welcomed the guests and emphasiSed the significance of the occasion, shedding light on the pivotal role that radiology plays in the field of medical science.

Rouf Ahmad Laigroo, the organising secretary and Head Imaging Technologist at GMC Srinagar, shared valuable insights regarding the essential contributions of radiographers in the delivery of healthcare services. The Executive members of the society Javid Rasool Shawl, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Javed Sultan, Bilal Ahmad Wani and M.Sultan also spoke on the occasion.

In his address, the Administrative Secretary of Health and Medical Education commended the radiology fraternity for their vital role in patient care and underscored the necessity of advancing the department to new heights to address existing gaps in services.
