World Population Day event held in Kargil
Kargil, Jul 11: Marking the observance of World Population Day, the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kargil on Friday organised an awareness programme at Government Model Middle School (MMS) Chutuk.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, and members of the local community.
A total of 46 students took part in a painting competition, while 35 students expressed their thoughts and concerns through an essay writing competition, highlighting the issues linked to population growth.
Principal DIET Kargil, S D Namgyal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, underscored the importance of observing World Population Day and emphasised the growing urgency of creating awareness about population-related challenges.
A student of MMS Chutuk delivered a detailed and thought-provoking presentation, specifically focusing on the rate of population growth in Ladakh and its direct consequences on regional challenges such as unemployment and scarcity of resources. Delivering the vote of thanks, Headmaster of MMS Chutuk, Ghulam Nabi, appreciated DIET Kargil for conducting the awareness programme and engaging students in such a meaningful way.
