World Hospice and Palliative Care Day observed at JLNM Hospital
Srinagar, Oct 12: On the directions of the Director Health Services Kashmir, World Hospice and Palliative Care Day was observed at JLNM Hospital.
Specialists delivered lectures highlighting the importance of palliative care for terminally ill patients and their families, with this year's theme being “Ten Years Since the Resolution: How Are We Doing?”
Dr. Syed Arif Hussain, Consultant Anesthesiologist and Nodal Officer for Pain and Palliative Care Kashmir Division, provided an in-depth presentation on the importance of palliative care. Other speakers included Dr Nazir Ahmad Khan, former HOD Radiation Oncology at SKIMS and Dr Javid Khursheed, both emphasising the specialty’s impact on patient care. Dr Arjumand from the Directorate of Health Services also addressed the gathering.
The others who emphasised on the need of palliative care were Dr Tariq Jan, Medical Superintendent of JLNM Hospital, and Deputy MS Dr Asifa. HOD Anesthesiology Dr. Arifa delivered the vote of thanks.
The event, attended by around 100 participants, concluded with an interactive session with caregivers of terminally ill patients, receiving feedback on the effectiveness of palliative care services.
