World Heart Day commemorated at SKIMS

Srinagar, Sep 29: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) observed World Heart Day 2025 with a series of events aimed at raising awareness about cardiovascular health.

The activities commenced with a boat rally on Dal Lake, featuring SKIMS cardiology faculty, staff, and students. The rally highlighted the importance of heart health.  Later, a formal function was held at the SKIMS Auditorium, where experts deliberated on the alarming rise in cardiovascular disease, especially heart attacks among the young population. Key sessions covered risk factors including smoking, dietary preservatives, sedentary lifestyles, and strategies for prevention through timely interventions and healthy living.

The program was presided over by Professor Ashraf Ganai, who in his address emphasized the urgent need for public awareness and lifestyle modifications to curb the growing epidemic of heart disease in Kashmir. He praised the efforts of the Department of Cardiology in spearheading preventive and interventional initiatives at SKIMS.
