World Diabetes Day observed at Aryans
Srinagar, Nov 17: With the objectives of raising awareness about different kinds of diabetes and to prevent and manage them, Aryans College of Pharmacy and Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh students of B Sc Nursing, GNM, ANM, B Pharma and D Pharma participated in skit and poster presentation.
Kamlesh, Principal Aryans Institute of Nursing while interacting with students said that Type 1, Type 2, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes is caused when the level of sugar in one's bloodstream increases due to insufficient production of insulin.
The general symptoms of diabetes include increased hunger, increased thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, blurry vision, extreme fatigue and sores that don’t heal, she explained.
World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year to make people aware of the treatment, prevention, and symptoms on 14 November on the birthday of Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin. This day also emphasises maintaining a healthy lifestyle and providing education regarding diabetes.
