World Blood Donor Day | 42 pints of blood donated in Pulwama

Pulwama, June 14: Pulwama National Youth Peace Foundation in collaboration with Skylark Paramedical College Pulwama, Blood Centre Pulwama and District Red Cross Committee on Friday organised a blood donation camp in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town to mark the World Blood Donor Day.

Dozens of donors from across the district including policemen participated in the programme and donated their blood. Musadiq Riyaz, founder of National Youth Foundation said that 42 pints of the blood were collected during the programme. He expressed his gratitude to all the donors for their life saving contributions.

“We hope to continue such programs in future”, said Musadiq. Abdul Majeed (61), who has earned the sobriquet of “blood man of Kashmir” was also present on the occasion to boost the morale of donors. He has donated around 200 pints of blood.

While appreciating the donors, P D Nitya, SSP Pulwama, who visited the camp, highlighted the importance of blood donation. She said that the youth participation in such programmes is a positive sign for the district.

Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Medical Superintendent District Hospital Pulwma and Devan Sood, CO 55 RR.
