World AIDS Day 2025 national event in New Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 30: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will lead the national observance of World AIDS Day 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on December 1.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and NACO will attend, reaffirming the government’s commitment to HIV prevention, treatment and stigma elimination.
Organised by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), the event will feature youth-led performances, a thematic exhibition on digital innovations and community models, and beneficiary stories highlighting progress under NACP-V.
A new national campaign video series will also be launched, focusing on youth awareness, eliminating mother-to-child transmission, and ending stigma.
Key reports – including the 7th Edition of Sankalak, India HIV Estimates 2025, and a Research Compendium - will be released.
India reported strong gains under NACP-V: HIV testing rose from 4.13 crore (2020–21) to 6.62 crore (2024–25), PLHIV on treatment increased from 14.94 lakh to 18.60 lakh, Viral load testing nearly doubled From 2010–2024, India achieved around 48.7 percent drop in new infections and 81.4 percent decline in AIDS-related deaths.
