Workshop on road safety organised in Srinagar
Srinagar, Jan 7: The second day of the three-day training workshop by the Asian Institute of Transport Development at IHM Rajbagh, Srinagar, drew active participation from officers of the Traffic and Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) J&K.
Satyendra Garg, former DGP Andaman and Special Commissioner, Delhi Police, shared insights on reducing road fatalities in New Delhi from 2,300 to 1,800 in a short span, emphasising the role of government machinery. Anil Chikara, former Deputy Transport Commissioner, New Delhi, called for bold measures to prioritise road safety.
Doctors from Ujala Cygnus Hospital demonstrated CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques and stressed accident site management and victim rescue.
An engaging session addressed participants' queries, with officers praising AITD and MORTH for organising the workshop. They urged similar initiatives across J&K to address the pressing need for road safety.
