Srinagar, Sep 11: The Division of Social and Basic Sciences, in collaboration with the Career Counseling and Placement Cell (CCPC), Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K, organised a one-day counseling workshop on “Strategies and Approach to Crack the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination” on September 11.

Three IFS officers, Iqbal Rasool Dar (IFS 2022), Shahbazul Rahman (IFS 2022), and Ankit Sinha (IFS 2022) from the AGMUT cadre, were invited as guest speakers. The officers shared their valuable experiences, discussing the strategies and approaches that helped them succeed in the highly competitive IFS exam.

Prof. Syed Naseem Geelani, Head of the Division of Social and Basic Sciences and the Organizing Secretary, emphasised the continuous efforts made by the Faculty of Forestry to prepare students for the highest-level competitive exams, including the IAS, IFS, KAS, ACF, and RO examinations. He highlighted the faculty’s legacy of producing successful candidates for IFS, KAS, and other prestigious cadre positions.

Prof S A Gangoo, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, encouraged students to also focus on competitive exams conducted by ICAR and other agencies, mentioning that the forestry students have a unique advantage in the IFS exam as they study forestry as a core subject.

Farhana, a student of Forestry, expressed her appreciation for the workshop, noting that such programs provide essential guidance to students, helping them strategize their efforts towards achieving their goals.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof P A Khan, HoD, FBT, who expressed gratitude to the IFS officers for engaging with the students and contributing to their professional development. This initiative was well-received by the student community and is expected to inspire them in their pursuit of success in competitive examinations.
