Srinagar, Mar 18: A one-week hands-on workshop on “familiarisation with molecular and other diagnostic techniques to counter challenges in livestock-rearing practices’ was inaugurated at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Shuhama campus.

The workshop is organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Veterinary Physiology, Faculty of Veterinary, Shuhama under the sponsorship of DST SERB’s Accelerate Vigyan scheme. More than 25 youth, postgraduate and PhD scholars from across the country are participating in this training programme.

Head Division of Veterinary Physiology, Prof ZA Pampori, who is the convener of the training, highlighted the importance of training in diagnostic techniques to counter challenges in livestock rearing practices. Director Research SKUAST-K, Prof Haroon R Naik emphasised the importance of novel diagnostic techniques to counter challenges in livestock rearing practices. Addressing the participants and faculty members, he discussed about various burning issues regarding stray animals and their health issues. Dean FVSc Prof M T Banday gave an in-depth discourse on the familiarization with molecular and other diagnostic techniques to counter challenges in livestock rearing practices that are vogue in the present era and enlightened the trainees on the various techniques beneficial to the students, researchers and the field veterinarians. Dr D Hassin, Associate Professor in the Division of Veterinary Physiology, SKUAST-K presented the vote of thanks.
