Worker cleaning Z-Morh tunnel critically injured in mishap
Ganderbal, Nov 22: A labourer sustained injuries inside the Z-Morh Tunnel in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday after being struck by a moving vehicle during routine cleaning work.
Officials said the incident occurred when a labourer identified as Irfan Ahmad Raina, son of Ghulam Rasool and a native of Gagangeer, was engaged in maintenance activities inside the under-construction tunnel.
During the process, a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK03K-5847 entered the stretch and hit the worker, resulting in injuries, as per KNT. The labourer was immediately evacuated from the spot by co-workers and tunnel staff. He was shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that he is undergoing medical care, though the exact nature of his injuries was not officially disclosed at the time of filing this report. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated necessary procedures. Preliminary report suggests the accident occurred while regular maintenance was underway.
