Jammu, Jan 9: National Conference  (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah Thursday asked women to emerge as pivotal agents of change in the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a press note, he  made these remarks while addressing a public meeting at Sodhi Resort, Barnoti District Kathua.

Dr Farooq  Abdullah emphasised the importance of women stepping forward as key agents of change in the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections in Jammu and Kashmir. “It is crucial for women to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our region through active participation in the democratic process. Our party has a legacy of prioritizing women's empowerment, and we will continue this tradition with even greater resolve,” he said.

The press note added that NC President highlighted the incredible contributions of Madr-e-Meharban, who played a pivotal role in the socio-political movement of Jammu and Kashmir and advocated for female literacy and empowerment of marginalised communities. Dr Farooq  Abdullah emphasised that National Conference has a proud history of supporting women, regardless of their background.

“Under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, the present government is unwavering in its commitment to empower women and ensure their rightful place in society. The party has always been a staunch advocate for women's rights and will continue to prioritize their inclusion and representation in all aspects of life,” he said.
