Woman hit by vehicle at Chadoora chowk, dies in hospital
Srinagar, Nov 18: A 32-year-old woman who suffered critical injuries after being hit by a vehicle at Main Chowk Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday morning succumbed at a Srinagar hospital later in the day.
Residents said the woman was struck while attempting to cross the busy intersection, a stretch that routinely sees traffic congestion during peak hours. Witnesses rushed to help her before she was shifted to the District Hospital in Budgam in an unconscious state.
Doctors at the hospital referred her to the Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment, but she could not be saved. She was identified as Sobiya Jan, a resident of Zoonimar in Srinagar.
Police have registered a case and begun further investigation into the incident.
Residents of Chadoora said the chowk continues to face heavy traffic flow, and they have repeatedly urged authorities to implement stronger traffic regulation measures to prevent recurring accidents in the area.
