Woman delivers baby on road in Rajouri
Rajouri, Nov 18: A woman hailing from remote Hari Chuma village of Rajouri delivered her baby on-road at Teryath tehsil area of Rajouri district.
The incident has prompted district administration to order a probe. The District Magistrate has assured strict action in the matter.
As per reports, the incident took place on Sunday when a woman reported in Community Health Center (CHC) Teryath. But later she was on her way to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani when she delivered the baby on-road.
The woman alongwith newborn baby, reports revealed, was immediately brought back to Teryath health facility, where they are under treatment. The incident has created resentment among local masses who are decrying lack of proper treatment in remote area.
" We are suffering from poor treatment and healthcare services and no one is showing concern over it," the locals said. Meanwhile, District Administration Rajouri has ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter with Additional District Magistrate (ADM/ADC) Kalakote has been nominated as the inquiry officer.
On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma himself visited health facility at Teryath to gather first hand appraisal of the incident involving a woman delivering a baby on road.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the woman and her family to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. He assured the family of strict action and emphasised that such incidents are unacceptable in a system committed to providing accessible healthcare to all.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the ADC Kalakote to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a report at the earliest. He also emphasised the need for regular monitoring of health centers and provision of adequate resources to cater to the needs of the public.
