Srinagar, Nov 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers including a woman drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police statement said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Mirchipora Tangmarg intercepted two persons who have been identified as Mohammad Saleem Lone, son of Gh Nabi & Furqaan Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad, both residents of Mirchipora Tangmarg. During search, 35 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession.

Similarly, police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Drangbal Baramulla intercepted two suspicious persons. During search, 70 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Amin, resident of Jalsheeri and a lady resident of Chellan Boniyar, the statement said.

All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law, the statement added.
