With 575th Rank, Chandigarh University among World’s top 2% in QS World University Rankings
Srinagar, Jun 20: Chandigarh University has made a significant leap in the QS World University Rankings 2026, climbing 125 spots to secure the 575th position globally, placing it among the top 2 percent of universities worldwide, as per a statement issued here.
According to the latest data released by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), the university now ranks 16th among all public and private higher education institutions in India, improving from 18th position last year. Among private Indian universities, Chandigarh University has moved up to 2nd place, up from 3rd in the previous edition of the rankings.
As many as 54 Indian institutions featured in this year’s QS World University Rankings. Chandigarh University’s performance highlights its steady progress in global academics, student success, and innovation-led initiatives.
In terms of Employer Reputation, the university made one of the most notable advances, jumping 25 global ranks to reach the 147th spot globally, while securing 7th position in India in this category. This indicator reflects the employability of graduates and the institution’s standing among employers worldwide.
In the International Research Network category, Chandigarh University also saw marked progress, rising from 26th to 12th rank in India. This metric evaluates a university’s ability to build and sustain global research partnerships. The university has filed over 4300 patents and continues to rank among India’s top five research-intensive universities, according to Government of India data.
Additionally, in Academic Reputation, the university advanced from 14th to 13th rank in India. This indicator measures peer recognition among academic experts globally and reflects both research quality and educational impact.
