Wisdom from the legendary Dr. Mushtaq Margoob
To Dream is an attribute of a courageous, productive and sound mindset. Everybody has a dream that one craves for so dearly since childhood. The one that one yearns to catch hold of for the rest of the times to come .I too had a cherished one of becoming a Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist! Yes you heard it absolutely right.
It was a fateful day of Feb 2025 when Almighty rewarded the years long journey flooded with struggles, sighs and sobs. I qualified NEET PG 2024 and subsequently had an honor to chose my dream medical specialty of M.D Psychiatry in one of the prestigious institutes of the Valley. Lord proved so generous to me in a way that one of the leading Psychiatrists Prof (Dr.) Abdul Majid happened to be my guide who instantly arranged a meet up with the most celebrated Psychiatrist of the region, Prof Dr Mushtaq Margoob.
My delight was palpable, soul was diving in serenity and eyes were engorged with glistening joy. As soon as I entered the room housing the legend himself, He stood up in a jiffy , greeted and embraced me with loads of love and honor. It was Indeed an unreal moment of bliss for me. The Masihah Of Kashmir is sitting in front of me at an arms distance . “Khush Amdeed Beta! Hamaray Mission ka hisa ban nay kai liyai “ , “Welcome Son! For Becoming a Part of Our Mission” The mission to serve the grief stricken, helpless, indigent ,dilapidated and needy patients.
Then he started the advices draped in wisdom like that of pearls scattering the beams and enlightening me viz, “ Dr. Sahab remember positions are destined to perish , To every pomp there is a peril . Strive to understand your mission as a doctor and learn how to alleviate the sufferings of a patient. Always make it a habit to put your heart into your clinical practice and don’t get lured by material gains. If u will be able to conquer your material desires Lord will surely open up the doors of Success and a Day will certainly arrive when your soul will verbalize the pleasant news about the Conquest of your mission, God Bless You Beta. , Foreseeing Your Brighter Career Ahead ” It reminds me about the discreet quote of Sophocles “ It is only great souls that know how much glory there is in being good”.
Having the distinction of international repute with an impactful clinical acumen, blessed with healthy research profile, colossal contribution in drastically transforming the dynamics of Psychiatry in the region . Indeed it was a pleasing experience to notice him being heavily equipped with the attributes of empathy, humility, nobility and a unique conduct. His personality is the one that has a potential to move mountains. Contrary to an environment of crude and toxic hierarchy rampant in the medical profession Margoob Sir stands tall as to how the toxicity can be killed by affectionately imparting skills and knowledge to the future generation of doctors to keep the mission alive for the ages to come . Though in his senility, paradoxically his energy to do research, serve the community and impart his learning experiences to the students is unique of its kind that keeps on beautifying his personality relentlessly.
