Winter preparedness arrangements reviewed in Shopian
Shopian, Nov 28: In order to assess the winter preparedness of the concerned departments in the district in view of the ensuing cold season, the District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today conducted an extensive tour of Shopian areas.
The DDC visited Gagren at Shopian where he inspected the Distribution Transformer workshop and took a review of availability of buffer stock and the restoration protocol of transformers.
It was apprised that 74 transformers in buffer stock are available at the workshop for replacement during the winters and that the department is committed to provide the repair DTs within timelines of 24 hours. The DDC emphasised for strict adherence to the power schedule.
At Shirmal, the DC visited the MED Control Room for snow clearance and took feedback on the preparedness of men and placement of machinery for on-time snow clearance operations across the district.
AEE, Mechanical Engineering Department, Shopian apprised that 21 snow clearance machines including 8 snow ploughs and 8 snow cats are available at Control Room Shirmal and Keller for prompt response to the snowfall. The department was instructed to keep all men and machinery in readiness for ensuring the snow clearance on time.
The DDC also inspected the under construction Animal Husbandry Hospital at Zawoora, Keller and took stock of its work progress. Shahid Saleem also visited Nursing College Shopian to take appraisal of some pending space issues.
The DDC asked for the possibility of relocating the Nursing College from DH to ensure further development and decongestion initiatives at the District Hospital.
Among others, the DDC was accompanied by ADDC, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone; ACR, concerned Tehsildars, and other district officers and officials during the tour.
