Win of secularism over divisive forces: Iftikhar Ahmad
Rajouri, Oct 9: Congress leader Iftikhar Ahmad, who won from Rajouri assembly constituency, today described his victory as win of secularism over divisive forces.
He said that he considers holistic development as his basic priority besides taking all sections along during next five years.
Iftikhar, an office bearers in Pradesh Congress Committee, had served in central leadership of Congress party for long and also remained election observer as well as election commissioner for party in various elections across the country.
Iftikhar defeated BJP’s Vibodh Gupta from Rajouri assembly constituency to register win with a margin of over 1400 votes.
“I appeal all the candidates who contested elections that we all have to work betterment of society and let’s unite hands for holistic development of constituency which is my basic priority,” he said.
He further mentioned a slogan of Congress, “ Nafrat Ke Baazar Main Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” and said that this is win of secularism over divisive forces.
“We fought polls with love and faith while our opponents fought with might of money but people voted for faith and secularism.” he further said.
The 39 years old young legislator further stated that BJP has been uprooted from seven assembly constituencies of Rajouri and Poonch districts and has been taught a lesson by people for doing nothing in last 10 years and instead resorting to hollow sloganeering.
Mentioning about development deficit, the Congress leader vowed to work for resumption of work on all pending projects in the area besides improving road connectivity as well as health sector and education sector.
