Will provide free electricity units from March: Omar
New Delhi, Dec 14: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday revealed the government’s plan to provide 200 free electricity units to power consumers starting March next year, underlining the National Conference’s commitment to delivering on its electoral promises.
Speaking to Aaj Tak, Abdullah said, “As far as electricity is concerned, we have made it clear to people in the last few days that we will start providing free electricity units from March next year.”
While acknowledging the current focus on maintaining maximum electricity supply during winter months, he assured that the free electricity initiative would be implemented as planned.
“Currently we are focussing on providing maximum power during winters,” Abdullah said.
He was equally emphatic about the government’s job creation and healthcare initiatives.
“As soon as we started talking about jobs, we started referring vacancies. We have started putting people on posts,” the CM said. “I have personally held the orders of doctors in my hands and have done the work of posting them in rural hospitals. So, we have started.”
He said that in the next five years, they would present all promises to the people and ask for votes again, demonstrating confidence in the government's performance and future electoral prospects.
When questioned about Article 370, the CM revealed that the Assembly had passed a resolution, reiterating the government's stance.
“People have entrusted us with not just 5 days, 5 weeks, or 5 months, but 5 years. We've already delivered on many promises, and we are committed to fulfilling every single one in the time ahead,” he said.
