Will not let people be deceived again: Nasir Wani
Kupwara, Aug 28: National Conference (NC) senior leader and Provincial President for Kashmir province Nasir Aslam Wani Wednesday criticized recent changes in Jammu and Kashmir's political landscape, claiming they weakened the region’s status.
Nasir was speaking at first public gathering at Geerhati after party decided to field him from Kupwara constituency in the upcoming assembly elections.
He outlined his plans to tackle local issues and improve conditions for young people. He promised to focus on job protection, better education, and improved healthcare for Kupwara.
Wani also pledged to fight for the restoration of statehood and special status under Article 370. He urged voters to support National Conference in the upcoming assembly elections on October 1 and highlighted several key proposals from the party’s manifesto, promising to prioritize the district’s development.
During the rally, Wani emphasized the need for enhanced hostel facilities in Srinagar for students from various parts of Kupwara who come to the city for their studies. He also outlined plans for significant infrastructural development at the District Headquarters in Kupwara, including the creation of multi-layered parking structures to alleviate roadside vehicle congestion.
"We will make sure that a four lane would be constructed via Sopore to Kupwara so that people may get respite and would reach to their destinations in less time" he added.
Regarding tourism, Wani said that it was National Conference which came up with Lolab Bangus Drangyari Development Authority for a widespread growth of tourism in Kupwara district. "Nothing new has been added with regard to infrastructure or where we had left. Following my entry to Legislative Assembly, I will make sure that not only already existing tourist places including Kalaroose would be developed but new places would be prioritized so that region's economy would witness a boost," NC senior leader added.
Wani further remarked, "We will stand firm against those who have manipulated and exploited the people of Kupwara under different guises. Some had promised that the Chief Minister would be from Kupwara, using this as a ploy to gain support, while others have played on people's emotions. Our focus is on real solutions and genuine progress, not empty promises and deceptive tactics.
Earlier Wani was warmly greeted by a large crowd at Drugmulla, despite the rain. Supporters cheered and chanted slogans in his favor. His cavalcade then moved to the Maqami Shah Wali (RA) shrine, where he sought blessings and prayed for the people of Kupwara.
