Will fulfill all promises outlined in NC’s manifesto: Nasir
Srinagar, Mar 15: Senior National Conference (NC) leader Nasir Aslam Wani, who is also Advisor to Chief Minister reiterated the party's unwavering commitment to fulfilling all promises outlined in its manifesto, assuring that every promise will be fulfilled within the next five years.
A statement of NC issued here said that meeting party leaders, workers, and functionaries at the party’s Nawa-e-Subh headquarters, he discussed key party matters with a special focus on public grievances and pressing issues.
Several deputations from Srinagar, including businessmen, traders, and citizens met Wani, Advisor to the Honourable Chief Minister, at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, today.
They apprised him of the hardships and challenges they were facing.
In response, Wani immediately contacted the concerned officials from various departments, urging them to address the issues raised by the delegations on priority.
He also asked the district administration of Srinagar to immediately start dewatering in low lying areas of the city.
Emphasising the party’s unwavering commitment to standing with the people and effectively resolving their issues, Wani highlighted the crucial role that NC workers should play as a link between the government and the people.
He said that the government’s greatest achievement had been restoring the connection between the government and the people, emphasising that NC workers should nurture that trust by bringing public concerns to light.
“The party’s goal is not simply to form a government and attain positions of power, but rather to use that power to serve the people and provide relief from the injustices of the past decade. Power is a tool for serving the people and amplifying their voices in the halls of power. It is a means to an end, not an end in itself,” Wani said.
He assured that the promises outlined in the NC’s manifesto would be fulfilled within the five-year mandate.
Wani acknowledged the numerous setbacks suffered by the people over the past decade, emphasising that undoing those injustices would require significant effort and time.
He lauded the 2025-26 budget, emphasising that it had set the stage for a new era in J&K.
Wani highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritising welfare, job creation, infrastructure development, and investments in key sectors such as education, power, health, and agriculture over the next five years.
“This budget marks a significant departure from past budgets, which were imposed on the people without their input. This year, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah engaged in extensive consultations with stakeholders to ensure that the budget reflects the aspirations of the public and promotes greater participation,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Additional General Secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President Showkat Mir, MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar, NC spokesman Imran Nabi Dar, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq, Provincial President Women’s Wing Sabiya Qadri, State Minority Convenor Jagdish Singh Azad, and additional spokesman Sheikh Owais, along with other senior party leaders.
