Will extend support to NC, Congress alliance if PDP’s agenda is accepted: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Aug 24: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said that the party will extend its complete support to recently formed NC – Congress alliance if both will accept our party’s agenda.

Mehbooba who was speaking to a press conference at party headquarters in Srinagar said that PDP, in the upcoming Assembly elections will not fight for the seats, but will extend its complete support to the alliance formed by NC & Congress, if they accept to follow her party’s agenda which includes the resolution of Kashmir issue.

“Power and seats doesn’t matter for PDP, but in case the party’s agenda is accepted we will extend our support to the alliance in Jammu & Kashmir,” Mehbooba said.

Mehbooba while reacting to a query said that there won't be any alliance after the elections with BJP. "We had forged an alliance with BJP to safeguard the identity of J&K, but when the decision has already been taken, the alliance with BJP on the basis of agenda is not possible now," she added.

Moreover, while releasing the party’s manifesto, Mehbooba said the traditional routes will be opened, free 200 units of electricity will be provided, the fight over the resolution of Kashmir issue will be taken forward and the dialogue process to be started if PDP is elected to power.

“We will give free electricity up to 200 units, we want to abolish tax on water, there should be no meters for water. For the poor who have 1 to 6 people in their house, we want to implement the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed scheme again because the rice and ration they get is not enough, so we will give 12 cylinders a year to the poor. Further we will double the social security like old age pension, widow pension etc, Mehbooba said. (With inputs from KNO)
