Will do justice with minorities if voted to power: Altaf Bukhari
Jammu, Nov 2: Apni Party president Syed Muhammed Altaf Bukhari Thursday said that his party would do justice with the minorities if voted to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
Altaf Bukhari assured the delegation led by district president Minority Cell, Dalbir Singh that he would do justice with the minorities in Jammu and Kashmir for their social, political, and educational upliftment.
Apni Party senior vice president, Ghulam Hassan Mir and provincial president, Jammu Manjit Singh were also present in the meeting with the delegation of Apni Party's Minority Cell.
In this meeting, the delegation held threadbare discussion regarding the Sikh community and protection of cultural heritage of the minorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
They informed that the Punjabi language was being spoken by a large section of people in Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of regional or religious identity.
“The language is a binding force for the communities and therefore, it must be promoted and recognized as one of the official languages in Jammu and Kashmir,” the deputation informed the Apni Party president during the meeting. They also demanded reservation of two Legislative Assembly seats i.e., one each in Jammu region and Kashmir region.
After hearing them, Altaf Bukhari reiterated his party’s commitment towards the upliftment of minorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
As far as the demand of Punjabi language was concerned, he assured the delegation that the Punjabi language would be considered and it was in the agenda of the Apni Party.
Extending his support, he said that the demand of two Legislative Assembly seats was also genuine. “It should be accepted by granting two Legislative Assembly seats each in Jammu and Kashmir regions to the Sikh community,” he said.
