Wildlife Week observed
Ganderbal, Oct 9: In connection with Wildlife Week 2024, the Department of Zoology at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised several events to raise awareness about wildlife conservation.
The department conducted a series of programs, including a painting competition, an invited talk, and a walkathon.
Dr Mohammad Lateef, Senior Assistant Professor, conducted the proceedings of these events.
Prof. Mohammad Yousuf, Head of the Department of Zoology, gave opening remarks regarding the program. Students from various semesters participated in the painting and poster competition. Later, a talk on “Human-Wildlife Conflict and Its Mitigation Measures” was delivered by Dr. Aliya Mir, Project Head, Wildlife SOS, J&K. She informed the faculty, students, and scholars about the rising cases of human-animal conflict. Faculty members actively participated in the event. After the lecture, faculty, scholars, and students took part in a walkathon from the Nunar Science Campus to the forest area of Nunar, Ganderbal. Dr Hameem proposed a vote of thanks.
