Wildlife Department’s casual labourers stage protest outside CM’s residence
Srinagar, Jan 29: The casual labourers of J&K Wildlife Department staged a protest on Wednesday demanding regularisation of their services.
Scores of casual labourers assembled outside the residence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Gupkar and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
“We have been working in the department for over a decade, and still, there is no regularisation policy for us. We hope that the government will take the matter seriously and formulate the policy,” said a protestor.
The aggrieved said they want the 2017 circular about the regular salaries in place as they “cannot survive on meagre wages.”
“Before regularisation, we want the implementation of the 2017 circular, which ensures that we receive regular and proper salaries like our counterparts in other departments,” they said.
The aggrieved said that since 2019, they have been on the roads, but no one is paying heed to their demands.
“Since we have a locally elected government, we have high hopes that CM will address our issue. We receive a few thousand rupees after several months, and we are unable to feed our families,” said a group of casual labourers. Later the protestors were dispersed by police
