Wild boars seen roaming Boulevard have strayed from Dachigam: Wildlife officials
Srinagar, Oct 7: The Department of Wildlife Protection on Monday said that the wild boars seen roaming along Srinagar’s Boulevard and Foreshore Road have strayed from Dachigam National Park and surrounding Conservation Reserves.
The clarification comes after a viral video of the boars roaming the world-famous Boulevard sparked public concern.
"These animals tend to venture outside the park during the fruit harvesting season in search of food. The rescue teams equipped with tranquilizing guns and trapping cages have been dispatched to safely guide the animals back to nearby forests," a Wildlife officer told news agency KNT.
The department urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading misinformation, assuring that all precautions are being taken to ensure no untoward incident occurs.
"Multiple teams are deployed to protect residents and agricultural crops, and citizens are advised to cooperate with wildlife personnel," said the official.
