Wet spell spreads cheer in Rajouri and Poonch
Rajouri, Feb 1: A fresh spell of rainfall on Friday and Saturday has brought new hope to farmers in the Rajouri and Poonch areas.
The region had witnessed a relatively dry period with minimal rainfall over the past five months badly affecting normal life and also leading to a sharp decline in ground water table.
The four-hour long rainfall, which started on Friday night, provided much-needed relief to the parched fields and crops. Although the rain have not been heavy enough to bring a significant drop in temperature, farmers are optimistic that the showers will help revive their crops.
Shubam Sharma, a local farmer, expressed their gratitude for the rainfall, stating that it has brought new life to their fields.
"We were worried about our crops due to the prolonged dry spell. This rainfall has come as a blessing," said Shubam. The rainfall has also replenished water sources in the region, which had started to dry up due to the lack of precipitation. The Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in the coming days, which is expected to further alleviate the dry conditions.
