Western Army Commander reviews security in Jammu, Samba
Jammu, May 16: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Western Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar Friday visited forward locations in Jammu and Samba districts to assess security and operational preparedness and exhorted all ranks to “stay vigilant and mission ready.”
Exhortation was made during his interaction with the army and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
Western Army Commander was accompanied by the GOC Rising Star Corps.
Lt Gen Katiyar also lauded troops’ valorous and vigilant actions and precise punitive response given to the adversary during ‘Operation Sindoor.’
Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts come under Western Command of the Indian Army while 14 Corps; 15 Corps and 16 Corps come under Northern Command. Both commands take care of the security of western borders of the country besides other strategic commands.

Notably, the Director General (DG) Border Security Force (BSF) Daljit Singh Chawdhary too had assessed security of Jammu frontiers on Thursday.
DG BSF had also paid tributes in Paloura camp of Jammu to the two brave-hearts of the Force, late Sub Inspector Md Imtiyaz and late Constable (GD) Deepak Chingakham, who laid down their lives while braving the Pakistan shelling on their Border Out Post (BOP) during Operation Sindoor along the International Boundary in R S Pura sector of Jammu district on May 10, 2025.
DG BSF had also addressed the troops of BSF Jammu, commending their unwavering courage, bravery, steadfast dedication and invaluable contributions to Operation Sindoor.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and all ranks of White Knight Corps Friday paid glowing tributes to the braveheart Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, who was killed in action during “Operation Sindoor.”
