Went missing in Aug, Ramban man's 'skull, shoes and clothes found': Police
Ramban, Sep 22: What is suspected to be the skull of a man who went missing in August this year was found along with his clothes and shoes in J-K's Ramban, officials said Sunday.
They said that the man might have been killed in an "attack on the security personnel earlier in August which also killed some army men."
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Kulbir Singh said that the police suspect the man was killed in a terrorist attack last month.
Singh said that missing report was filed in Batote police station on Aug 13, following which police and locals searched for 24-days with no clue, news agency KNO reported.
"Yesterday evening, relatives of the missing person went to the spot from where he went missing, only to find a human skull lying there along with some clothes. Following this, a police team reached the spot and found the skull, shoes, and some clothes that were identified by the man's relatives," said Singh.
While he said that an investigation into the matter is ongoing, Singh said, "It is an unfortunate incident that happened at the same time when there was an encounter in which a terrorist and some army personnel were also killed. As investigation progresses, it will be known how many people were involved in it.”
Singh said although such incidents "don't take place in our area, security forces must always remain vigilant to thwart any attacks."
