Weddings turn into mourning after two houses reduce to ashes in Bandipora
Bandipora, Nov 09: Two houses were damages in Bankoot village north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday night, not only damaging the properties but turning the families celebrations into mourning.
Notably, the houses belonging to Nazir Ahamd and his cousin Bashir Baba were caught in a devastating fire on Friday night.
Nazir who had wedded his son on November 4 has lost "everything" which includes his daughter in laws property, including jewellery and clothes.
"We could not recover anything," Nazir said.
His cousin who was preparing for the wedding of his son on 17 November is also left "devastated".
"Whatever he had accumulated for the wedding celebration turned to ashes besides everything else in the house," he said.
"Our happy occasions have turned into mourning," he added.
Nazir said they are not sure how to proceed with the wedding as, "there is nothing left to eat and stay in."
The families and neighbours are now vehemently appealing the authorities to have a compassionate look and help them recover.
