Srinagar, July 17: In the wake of a recent terror incident in Doda region that claimed the lives of four Army soldiers, Director General of Police (DGP), Rashmi Ranjan Swain Wednesday said that the Police force would “fight shoulder to shoulder and avenge” the loss.

“Every single policeman of J&K Police will fight shoulder to shoulder and avenge. We will make sure the enemies pay a heavy price,” Swain said during interviews with CNN-News18 and Times Now, as he discussed the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack, which occurred on Monday, saw four soldiers, including a captain, killed in an encounter with heavily armed terrorists.

The killed soldiers were identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa from Darjeeling, Naik Dokkari Rajesh from Andhra Pradesh, and Sepoys Bijendra and Ajay Kumar Singh from Rajasthan.

This incident marks the third significant clash between security forces and terrorists in the Jammu region within the past three weeks.

It follows closely on the heels of an ambush on an Army patrol in the remote Machedi forest belt in Kathua district last week, which resulted in the death of five soldiers and injuries to several others.

In response to the Doda attack, security forces, including troops from the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, promptly initiated a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Desa forest belt.

Despite challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions, efforts are ongoing to track down and kill the involved terrorists.
