‘We need to create positive impact on lives of individuals with disabilities’
Srinagar Dec 3: The Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) observed World Disability Day with a series of events aimed at fostering awareness, understanding, and inclusivity.
The event witnessed the presence of people from various walks of life, including the chief guest Zareef Ahmad Zareef, a veteran Kashmiri poet, writer, social activist and environmentalist, the guest of honor
Jehangir Bakhshi, secretary District Legal Services Authority Srinagar, Faisal Ali Dar Padma Shree Awardee (Kick Boxing) and the Special Guest Roma Wani.
Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, President of Voluntary Medicare Society, delivered a speech emphasising the society’s commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and the continuous support for individuals with disabilities.
His inspiring words resonated with the audience, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts in building a more inclusive society.
As the event concluded, Prof. Masooda Yasin, Secretary of VMS, expressed gratitude through a sincere vote of thanks. She acknowledged the contributions of the guests, participants, and volunteers, highlighting the collaborative spirit that made the World Disability Day observance a resounding success.
“The Voluntary Medicare Society remains dedicated to its mission of promoting health, well- being, and inclusivity within the community and the World Disability Day observance stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. By the end of the event Certificate of Appreciation and Prizes were given to the persons who made distinguished contribution towards the empowerment of PwDs," the organisers said.
