We must protect freedom of press, our reporters: Tarigami

Srinagar, Oct 30: CPI (M) MLA from Kulgam constituency, M Y Tarigami Thursday asked the government to ensure freedom of press and safety of the reporters.

Speaking during special session of the Assembly, to discuss public related issues, Tarigami said the government must frame a proper media policy and ensure freedom of press besides safety of reporters.

He also talked about the continuous suspension of government advertisements to Greater Kashmir newspaper and other media Houses.

"The government should take note of it and ensure that we ensure freedom of press and safety of the reporters," Tarigami said in House.

The special session was held following the culmination of Zero Hour wherein MLAs from all parties were given an opportunity to raise and discuss public issues.
