‘We must extend helping hand to downtrodden families’
Srinagar, Nov 17: The Kashmir Welfare Trust (KWT), under the leadership of Chairman Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, organised a function as part of its Mission Wushnare 2024 at Bilaliya Educational Institute, Lal Bazar today.
On the occasion, over 200 families received winter kits, which includes food kits, warm clothing, blankets, kangris, thermals, and hot water bottles.
MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, who was Chief Guest of the function, emphasised the need to focus on employment generation to address the financial challenges faced by downtrodden families.
Additionally, sewing machines were distributed to promote women empowerment, and bicycles were provided to students for safer school commutes. A medical camp, organised by Help Poor Voluntary Trust, offered healthcare support to attendees.
Speaking at the event, Chairman KWT Manzoor Wangnoo stated, “empowerment through assistance is our priority. Giving a hand is better than merely giving in hand.”
“It is our religious and social responsibility to extend helping hand to downtrodden families. We must explore avenues to provide self-employment to women and youth to make their self-reliant. This way they can support their families,” Wangnoo added.
The event saw active participation from civil society members, educationists, environmentalists, law enforcement officials, and students of Bilaliya Educational Institute, who assisted beneficiaries. Wangnoo extended his gratitude to administration, chief guest, the dignitaries, and volunteers, reiterating KWT’s commitment to humanitarian aid and sustainable empowerment.
